The Spring in Outfits
I have ghosted this blog on and off for years and I am sure it will happen again. This semester and season really got away from me. I spent this spring recovering from the winter storm (the worst), reading at a reasonable pace (as opposed to what I had gotten used to for orals), editing my prospectus and my book chapter, and finding an apartment. We found an apartment! Nothing else is complete but I do feel like I have made measurable progress on all of my work, even if I am not quite where I want or need to be. I am planning a trip home and am hopefully doing the LARB institute later this summer and teaching a course on Ghosts in the fall (!). This spring was a lot of waiting for dresses since I have become obsessed with Made to Measure. I also fell even more hopelessly in love with Nooworks.
This dress! I LOVE THIS DRESS and maybe will wear it everyday for the rest of my life. It’s from STUDIOVSM on Etsy and the clothing is handmade in Wales. I fell so in love with the William Morris print and the fit is so perfect. It was a wait because it is made to measure and had to get to Texas from Wales, but absolutely worth it. My scrunchie is Free People and of course I am wearing my Birkenstocks as per usual.
What a fun look! I wore variations of this constantly this spring. This amazing dress is part of the Torrid x Betsy Johnson line. It is so nice to be able to wear one of my favorite designers as someone plus sized. Here I paired it was a mock neck tank from Aerie, but have worn it with every possible top configuration. It’s pretty low cut and not quite my vibe without another layer.
Just for fun, chilling in my emo nite shirt. I got it from Hot Topic but sadly it is no longer available.
Nooworks does it again. I am obsessed with the print on this (designed by Naomi Anderson Subryan). I am not sure if this exact dress is still available, but there are a whole bunch of items on this page!
Another Nooworks dress! These Catfaces!
Look at me wearing HARD PANTS. This whole outfit is J.Crew, though the top was thrifted. Isn’t it such a sweet print? It’s so nice with high waisted skirts too. I think the pants need to be hemmed by a solid contender for nice dress pants! The pretty color!
And more Nooworks (sponsor me?) This is there Mucci Collab mock neck and I LOVE IT. I paired it with this hot pink Forever21 plus skirt that I have thrifted 3 times because I wear them to shreds but I LOVE THE COLOR AND FIT.
My other favorite made to measure etsy store is of course Hearts and Found. I have quite a few of their pieces now but I really stepped out of my comfort zone with this pinafore style. Much cuter styled with a blouse or a tight fitting long sleeve but I only took pics in this outfit. Why? This particular dress style is called the Lorraine and the best part is you can pick the style of dress and then the fabric. They come from Vietnam are all handmade.
I had an interview. These are Old Navy Stevie Ponte Pants currently on sale for 12 dollars! I paired them with my favorite yellowish blouse from Universal Standard and this paper thin (in a good way) cardigan from there as well (also discontinued. Why?). These flats are from Free People and are SO GORGEOUS. They are a few years old now.
This is a first time in a longtime I have wanted something from Modcloth, but this Modcloth x Princess Highway dress was it for me. The style! The color! The FOX PRINT.
The new Target Designer collabs had me wanting everything, but I am glad I chose this dress. SUCH A VIBE.
